Monsod vs. Binay
OMG! I missed it!!!!!!! What was I thinking!
I was shouting to myself...in my head...
I am referring to the Jan. 22, 2011, Saturday (I don’t usually buy newspapers on weekends) issue of the inquirer where she was alleged to ‘rehashed half-truths’ regarding a post on the FB page of PDP-Laban (which I have yet to see...sorry no internet as of this time).
I was thinking to myself “How would she react/get back at them? Would she apologize? Would she retract what she wrote?” because it appears that she just hates the man.
On a letter sent to the Inquirer by the head of media relations, OVP, Mr. Joselito Salgado in response to Ms. Monsod’s column, he made some clarifications and sited some keywords missing and a paragraph that could have provided the proper context. According to him, she was offended on Binay’s supposedly active role in the Aquino administration (which I think that it should be for the reason that the VP, who was voted for that position, should not just be paid doing nothing) because Monsod is a supporter of Mar Roxas. Salgado also pointed out the never ending issues and allegations that smear the name of the VP.
FYI, I am NOT against the columnist Solita Monsod nor am I a fanatic of VP Jejomar Binay. I simply respects the man who believe in “The Loyalty to the Party Ends, When the Loyalty to the Country Begins.” And I quote: “For the VP, political loyalties should give way to the more urgent task of restoring the people’s trust in government and restoring the dignity of citizens.” I am not naive into thinking that politicians have no personal motives, but it is better to see the VP doing something for the President, rather than those VP’s who thinks of ways on how to push the blame through the “Incompetency” of the President, and then joins ,at the last minute, a rally that would overthrow the current administration.
Again, I have nothing against Monsod, but I want to see how she would deal with it. I am also highly opinionated and maybe one day I would face the same issue and I wanted to learn how to answer back. I am also a little “Bias” in some topic, but I could say that I am also open minded to new avenues of thinking.

Positive News J
WOW! I would like to congratulate Ms. Danica Magpantay for being chosen as the Supermodel of the World 2010! Hooray! I really don’t have anything else to say because I don’t know that there was something like this going on, but I was greatly impressed because you have been described as having the “perfect designer’s body!” (But let me be the judged of that, JK : P)
And I would also like to congratulate Mr. Amado Esteban for being the first Filipino President of an American University, the Seton Hall University. Hooray!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now back to some ugly news, which makes up 99% of all the news today...deal with it!
*I almost forgot, I promised (to myself) to post my opinion about death penalty (read below)
To make this blog “bite-size”, i would keep it short and skip some news that I believe would be covered in the next OMG! News. J (“carnapping”, rice scam etc.)

Death Penalty
...and what I think about it.
Go For It!
Under the column of Mr. Christian Esguerra last January 21, 2011, Friday issue of the Inquirer, he wrote about the proposal of Sen. Miguel Zubiri to bring back the capital punishment which was promptly turned down by some of his colleagues.
One of the senators who did not support the re-imposition of the death penalty law was Sen. Francis Pangilinan, although he did comment that the current incidents that where happening around the country “give a foreboding sense of lawlessness”, he sees that “it is the certainty, not the severity, of punishment that brings fear in the hearts of would-be criminals”. He also said that “Even if you impose death penalty on criminals but you cannot get them, the law would not be a deterrent.”
In part, I would agree with his statement. I would say that in ALL countries, that have constitutions and laws, there is a certain percentage of cases in which justice has not or have not yet been served. However, it is the severity that imposes people to “re-think” their actions.
I have been to Singapore and, to tell you the truth, I was “wierded” out and scared by the punishments (which was posted on the back of a key chain I have bought) one could get by just spitting, throwing trash, sticking of gums, and by carrying illegal substance. There is public humiliation, “caning” which I would think a lot of “Human Rights” group would raise their eyebrows, and the death penalty. But what did they get? AN EFFING CLEAN CITY! Human rights my ass! It is being “civil” that creates a beautiful society and city, mind you, and not tolerance of wrong practice! In the end, I really don’t have anything to fear about that place because, I for one, does not condone wrong behaviour, practice and habits!
What do we have to fear if we WOULD NOT do crime?
Here in the Philippines, currently, what do we do with those criminals (convicted) that have been caught?
A.)Take care of them (HR I suppose)
B.)After sending them to prison for their “punishment”
C.)Release them again, and then repeat a.
D.)All of the above
Really?! Sending them to prison is the punishment? THE EFFING PUNISHMENT THAT IS! I would not be surprise if “international” criminals would want to be captured and convicted here than to other countries! Have you seen what kind of “PUNISHMENT” they are enduring in jail? They “meet” their “BROD” there (reunion!), they get to learn new hobbies like DANCING AND BEING KNOW INTERNATIONALLY! They still receive their daily dosage of drugs! If the convict is rich enough, you could turn a cold cell into a BACHELORS PAD! And if you are close enough to the warden, you could request “once in a while” to FUCKING GET OUT OF JAIL to be with family (OWWWW...How sweet!).
I am not saying that we get harsh and make all crimes be punishable by death. Don’t be stupid! K? I am just saying that I recognize that sometimes the “hands” of law is short and even if we get hold of this “pest of society” we hold them as if we are holding a “fragile” pet.
Debate is welcome as long as every party involve has an open mind! Peace!
Please Don’t Forget To Be Happy!
